Praise Whistlers Abroad

This is a forum for whistlers of faith, and a work in progress .  As it grows it will be a place where whistlers can share praise and worship songs, prayer needs, favorite scriptures, poems and ideas for building each other up.  As we share our  methods of worship, hopefully these  can be used in  each of our congregations to bring glory to our Lord.

Psalm 150 is an exhortation to praise God

You might speculate on where it says to praise Him with the whistle.  My guess is that the "organ" in the King James Bible just might be a whistle. New King James says "flutes". But there's no question it says: " Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord"

If you have experienced how this simple instrument enhances church music, I need say no more; but if you haven't, my desire is to show you in many ways and from many praise whistlers the wonder of it. I hope this will please God!

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning. Oh Lord in the morning will I direct my prayer unto You and will look up.  Psalm 5:3

Here are some websites of other Christians who play whistle:

Phil Sexton also known as Fancy Piper of the whistle message boards is a long time whistle player who recently became a praise whistler.  The first link is to his main website. The second is a link to a directory that contains many of his tunes which include some sounds of  Hoover whistles.

Praise Whistlers Abroad

Carlton Olson

(Captain Cal of His Kids Radio)

"The reason I started playing whistles was to use them in our church services. I'm one of the organists at our church, and it's such a nice change to be able to bring a prelude or offertory on whistle instead of organ - gives our congregation an opportunity to hear another way to give praise to God. When we visit my wife's home church, it's a lot of fun to do the prelude and offertory with my Mother-In-Law, who's the organist there.

Using the expressiveness of the whistles, in a familiar tune such as a hymn or praise chorus, gives me the opportunity to bring the meaning of the words into how I play the tune. I've played recorders for a long time, and still use them for a more classical style, but the whistles allow me to take other tunes, even more modern worship songs, and play them in a way that reflects the words. It's a wonderful way to bring praise to the Lord, and helps others to praise Him too.

CONFESSION

(Music)

Every knee shall bow
Every tongue confess
That, “Jesus is Lord,” someday
But I sing it out now
With all of my heart
"Jesus Christ is Lord of All"

Every eye will soon behold You
Graves will open at Your call

Men of great and lowly stature
All at Your feet will fall

But I know you right now
You are precious to me
You're my Lord, my friend, Jesus

So on bended knee
I now confess
You're my Lord, my friend, Jesus
